I always had a thing with shoes. Ever since I was a child, I was always cleaning shoes of visitors. This is the reason why I wanted to help create the first official program in Belgium for “Shoe Design”.

After years of working with wood and metal, and also refurbishing Louis XIV seats, I realised that my true passion was in shoes. A few years later , I discovered that there was a study for “Orthopaedic Shoe Maker”. This became my next goal . I learned to make insoles so that people could walk better and without pain. I really wanted to help people with a disability or pain. This is the best reward you can get from the work !

Today I also teach with heart and soul at the Academy in Sint-Niklaas (Belgium). I teach the students a little bit about biomechanics and orthopaedics. This is an important basic knowledge for future shoe designers. It helps them to create the shoes they design. You can’t build a house without a decent foundation : the same applies for shoes !

For more than 25 years I wanted to create the perfect insole or the best support possible for anybody wearing shoes. I worked for the biggest companies in Belgium. Soon I realised that the all had one thing in common : selling as much as possible. Buyers became numbers and patients became clients.

I was eager to learn and offered to help out with new ideas. But they choose to go on working as usual. No new kid was going to tell them what to do !

After many years of frustration , I decided in 2006 to start a firm, although many colleagues advised against it. It took a lot of energy and money but Creemers Orthopaedics was born.
